Our Story: Henry's Seizures from the Start
Henry.
This is Henry.
He's a Goldendoodle.
Henry started having seizures at age 2.
He's amazing.
He's sweet.
Henry doesn't want seizures.
I don't want Henry to have seizures.
We have had scary moments.
He has spent time in the hospital.
He made the loudest, human crying sounds I've ever heard from a dog.
He has coughed up blood.
He seems to be a most-challenging and uncommon seizure patient.
I have had lots of anxiety and worry and flat out ugly cries.
I've also found some ways to help.
I've bonded with my veterinarian.
I've joined social media support groups.
I've studies medicines, supplements, alternative therapies+
I'm not an expert, but our stories may help you.
I have gotten him to the best vets.
We have a general veterinarian and a neurologist.
We have reached out to learn about supplements.
We even did an animal communicator session.
I'll try anything to help this guy.
Seizures are scary.
But dogs are amazing.
This blog logs Henry's story.
We hope our story may help you on your own journey.
If you are here, you're probably looking for help for your dog's seizures. I'm so sorry to hear that your four-legged friend has experienced this—and that you have had to deal with the emotional stress that comes with trying to find the best solutions.
In the next blog editions, I'll share my journey with Henry—from the start of his seizures to now. While he had the seizures, I have had my own growth to handle the stress of it all. I will share what happened, what we have done, what meds we have tried, what meds we have dropped, what supplements we add, and more. I'll share it all and I'd love to hear what you think and what you've found to help, too.
*All that said: I'm not a veterinarian. I love veterinarians. Find one you trust. Go see a neurologist. Do what's best for your dog. Any information shared here is meant to be shared as my personal story. I will share links to resources for more info and to experts when I can but I am not and don't pretend to be an expert on dog seizures.
